Bloomberg has an interesting article about the State of Illinois making a $168 million mistake. The State miscalculated amounts that were then distributed to municipal bond issuers. Some amounts were relatively small, but the City of Chicago received $19.4 million and the Chicago Public Schools $23.5 million in over payments.
The State of Illinois Department of Revenue plans on reduce future distributions over time to recoup the over payments.
